Zero-Drift Precision Op Amps: Advantages and Limitations of the Chopper-Stabilized Architecture

specialized op amps designed for applications that require high output accuracy due to small differential voltages. Not only do they feature low input offset voltage, but they also have high CMRR, high PSRR, high open loop gain, and low drift over temperature and time. These features make them ideal for applications such as low−side current sensing and sensor interface, particularly with very small differential signals.

Operational Amplifiers - Application Needs for Precision in Industrial Control

The evolution of electronic control of industrial functions requires the ability to measure and precisely control equipment position, angles and rotation. These applications, such as assembly robots, surface and valve actuators, have the potential to not only provide higher quality finished products but to also improve human safety by removing workers from harsh environments.

Capacitive Loads and Phase Margin

Driving a capacitive load with an op amp can be tricky. If the load capacitance is too high, this can cause instability, making the op amp output oscillate. Having adequate phase margin is essential for stability. As load capacitance increases, phase margin decreases. If you are seeing an op amp output oscillate, the first thing to look at is the load.
